Tong Ren Tang has been putting its name on the 800 traditional Chinese medicines it sells for more than 300 years. It is now trying to stand out from a host of rivals in a highly fragmented market by capitalizing internationally on that history. It has started selling in Hong Kong, Britain, Thailand, Australia and the United States and set up Tong Ren Tang Technologies in 2000, which is listed on Hong Kong’s market for growth companies. While its international presence and domestic market share remain small, its sales are growing rapidly.
